IIP Workshops On Packaging for SMEs in Delhi

Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), an autonomous body in the field of packaging under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India will be conducting two national workshops on packaging this month in New Delhi. One of these workshops will address the issues related to Testing and Quality Control of Packaging Materials, while the other one will be around Handloom Handicraft Items and Sports Goods.

Dr. NC Saha, Director, Indian Institute of Packaging said, “At IIP we have remained focused at creating a talent pool of packaging professionals along with providing many R&D based solutions to the industry for their packaging requirements. Apart from this at various intervals we have been undertaking workshops and training programmes for multiple industries for them to learn and benefit from our expertise, and these events are a part of the same programme.”



As a part of this series, a two-day workshop on Testing and Quality Control of Packaging Materials will be conducted at the IIP Campus. The programme is aimed at the packaging industry to help them in improving the quality of their packages by adopting correct ways of quality control methods. Various topics related to the testing and quality control of various packaging materials being used in the industry will be covered during this programme on 28-29 July 2016.

IIP is one of a unique institution of its kind in the country that is dedicated to the cause of packaging. Packaging being one of the largest and diversified sectors with an average growth of 15% and by the year 2020 we expect a turnover USD 28 Billion from packaging. Ministry of Commerce & Industry is proposing to the Government of India to recognize Indian Institute of Packaging as Institute of National Importance (INI) for the contribution it is making towards packaging careers and meeting up with the objectives set in their Vision 2024.

Indian Institute of Packaging is second in the world, besides USA, to start two years Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging. IIP has linkages with International organizations and is a founder member of the Asian Packaging Federation (APF); member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP), USA the Institute of Packaging (IOP), UK; Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), USA and the World Packaging Organization (WPO).

IIP is primarily engaged in Training & Education, Research & Development activities and promotes the export market by way of innovative package design and development apart from conducting various activities like testing and evaluation of packaging materials and packages, consultancy services and research & development related to packaging.
