Today on 06.06.14, a new building of P.S. IGIA Metro has been inaugurated at Aerocity Metro Station and has started functioning. Police Station IGI Airport metro had become operational on 22.09.10 and was functioning from the premises of Police Station Raja Garden Metro near Raja Garden Metro Station.  The average travel time from an Express Metro Station to the Police Station was about an hour and passengers travelling on this line had to travel all the way to Raja Garden Metro station to lodge a complaint/FIR or for any other assistance.

Now, Police Station IGI Airport Metro has been allocated space at the Aerocity Express Metro station and is being inaugurated today by Sh. Mukesh Kumar Meena, IPS, JT. Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Range. A new Police Assistance Booth will also soon come up on Aerocity Metro Station.

Apart from opening a new building, which will be located at the Aerocity Express Metro station, notification regarding the redistribution of the jurisdiction of Metro Stations among eight Metro Police Stations has also been issued and has come into effect from 00.00 hours on 06.06.2014. Earlier jurisdiction of Metro Police Stations was based on the Metro Lines.  Due to this the distribution of Metro Stations among Metro Police Stations was not even. Raja Garden Metro Station had 29 Metro Stations spread over a long distance under its jurisdiction while some Police Station had only 6 Metro Stations under its jurisdiction. Also interchange Metro Stations like Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat were under the jurisdiction of two different Metro Police Stations. Due to this a complainant had to face lot of inconvenience.  To remove above disparities and anomalies and in-convenience to the passengers, jurisdiction areas of Metro Stations has been redistributed.  This will also make interchange Metro Station under the jurisdiction of single Metro Police Station. In this process the jurisdiction of Police Station IGIA Metro has also been extended to include nine more Metro Stations of Blue Line towards Dwarka.

A dedicated four digit All India Metro Police Help Line No. 1511 (Toll Free) will also soon become operational to redress the problem of commuter of Metro of the country, in minimum time.
