INTER-STATE ILLEGAL GUN TRADING RACKET BUSTED: ONE IMPORVISED AK-47 AUTOMATIC ASSUALT RIFLE OF .30 CALIBRE AND 30 SOPHISTICATED WEAPONS OF .32 BORE RECOVERED

A team of Special Cell led by Inspr. Manoj Dixit  and Inspr. Shiv Kumar under the supervision of Sh. Satyavir Singh, ACP/SR, Special Cell has busted an Inter-State gang of illegal firearm trading racket and apprehended (1) Shamim s/o Asgar r/o VPO- Bilaspur, PS Nai Mandi, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP aged 46 years, (2) Vijay Pal s/o Geeta Ram r/o Gali No. 4, Adarsh Colony, Behind Shiv Mandir, PS Nai Mandi, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP aged 32 years and (3) Taslim s/o Gafur Ansari r/o Meenakshi Chowk, Mohalla Takiya Ansari, South Civil Lines, Muzaffarnagar, UP aged 36 years. One locally made AK-47 alongwith magazine and 30 semi automatic pistols alongwith 30 spare magazines have been recovered from the accused persons. Some of the recovered pistols are engraved with “MADE IN ITALY” mark and the rest with “MADE IN USA”. This is for the first time since the Special Cell started the work on Operation ‘Munger’, an improvised AK-47 rifle has been recovered. The craftsmanship can be very well judged by the fact that recovered weapon has been imitated exactly to that of original AK-47 assault rifle. One white colored Tata Indigo car used for the transportation of the weapons has also been recovered.

 

OPERATION

 

An in-house study into the growing use of sophisticated firearms over last few years revealed that in most of the cases illicit weapons manufactured in Munger, Bihar are being smuggled into Delhi. Accordingly, a team of Special Cell led by Inspr. Manoj Dixit and Inspector Shiv Kumar was deputed to curb the menace of this gang in Delhi & NCR. Once entrusted with task, this team collected data pertaining to these gangs operating in Delhi and NCR. This team worked diligently and relentlessly by deploying informers in and around Delhi, UP West and Bihar. The present operation commenced when on 16.07.13, team arrested two persons namely Niranjan Mishra and Mohd. Firoz Alam and a huge haul of 99 illegal pistols was recovered from inbuilt capsule cavity of one Ambassador car. It was learnt by the team that one Shamim r/o Muzaffarnagar, UP is the kingpin and receiver of these illegal factory made weapons and further supply the same to his contacts in Delhi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli.

 

After sustained perseverance and sincere efforts put in by the team, the efforts of the team eventually bore fruits when the team was able to extract a specific information on 01.06.2014 that Shamim and his associates would come to MTNL ground, Bhagat Singh Park, Yamuna Vihar, Delhi at about 5 PM in a white Colour Tata Indigo car bearing No. UP12AD-6537 to deliver a huge cache of Munger manufactured semi automatic weapons to their contact. Accordingly, a trap was laid at 4 PM, near MTNL ground, Bhagat Singh Park, Yamuna Vihar, Delhi. At 05:30 PM, a white colour Tata Indigo car came to a halt and two persons alighted the vehicle out of which one was carrying a bag. One person was spotted sitting on the back seat of the car. When no one turned up, the duo got inside the car and as they were about to leave, all the three persons were overpowered and apprehended who were identified as Shamim, Vijay Pal and Mohd. Tasleem. One locally made AK-47 rifle and 20 pistols were recovered from the bag carried by Shamim. Five pistols were recovered from the bag carried by Mohd. Tasleem and 5 pistols were recovered from the cavity inside the left side rear door on the instance of driver Vijaypal. A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted. A case under appropriate sections of law has been registered at PS Special Cell against the accused persons.

 

On interrogation accused Shamim revealed that the recovered improvised AK-47 was demanded by one of the High Profile gangster of Western Uttar Pradesh and this revelation is being verified. The receivers of the weapons are also being identified.

 

 

PROFILE OF CRIMINALS :

 

Shamim

 

Subject Shamim was born in 1968 at Village Bilaspur, PS Nai Mandi, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP. His father Asgar is a street vendor of garments. He is eldest in his family and having two younger brothers and two younger sisters. Due to financial crisis, he gave up his studies after 2^nd class and in the age of 12-13 years started labour work of tiles. In the year 1993, he got married to Sameena r/o Village Sherpur of Muzaffarnagar, UP. After his marriage he got prepared his Passport and in the year 1996, he went to Saudi Arabia and doing Tiles work there. After one and half he returned back to India and again started Tiles work.  Shamim has five sons and five daughters.

 

About 7-8 years ago, one of his friend Arshad introduced him with Hazi Zahiruddin who is indulging in business of illegal arms. Due to poverty and to earn easy money, Shamim was lured to this illegal trade. He purchased these pistols from Hazi Zahiruddin and further sold to different criminals. Further Hazi Zahiruddin introduced him to Manji r/o Munger, Bihar, who is manufacturer and main supplier of illegal arms. After that, he used to visit Munger, Bihar regularly for purchase of pistols. For safe traveling from Munger he lured one of his friend Vijay Pal Bansal, who is taxi driver and owns his Taxi. For this purpose Vijay used various inbuilt capsule cavities of his taxi. Shamim used to visit Delhi to deliver the consignments of weapons to one of his contact whose identity is yet to be established.

 

Vijay Pal

 

Subject Vijay Pal was born in May, 1982 at Village Adarsh Colony, Gali No. 4, Behind Shiv Mandir, PS Nai Mandi, Muzaffarnagar, UP. His father Geeta Ram was worked as Compounder in Govt. Ayurvedic hospital, Muzaffarnagar. Due to financial crisis, he gave up his studies after 10^th class and started driving local passenger cars. In the year 2007, he got married to Priyanka r/o Adarsh Nagar, Roorkee, Uttrakhand. He have two sons. In March 2013, he purchased one Tata Indigo taxi for his earnings. His friend Shamim lured him for hefty earnings in lieu of transport weapons from Munger to Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Delhi & NCR. Vijay used inbuilt capsule cavities of his taxi to hide weapons. Vijay used to visit Munger and Delhi to deliver the consignments of weapons with Shamim regularly.

Mohd. Tasleem

 

Subject  Mohd. Tasleem was born in 1978  at Meenakshi Chowk, Mohalla Takiya Ansari, South Civil Lines, Muzaffarnagar, UP. His father Gaffur is Rickshaw puller in local area of Civil Lines, Muzaffarnagar, UP. He is illiterate. Due to financial crisis, he started labour work in welding shop of local market. In the year 2006, he got married to Nazma r/o Laddawala, Muzaffarnagar, UP. After his marriage, he started work as driver on passenger tempos from Meenakshi Chowk to Mansurpur for his earnings. One of his friend introduced him with Vijay Pal who gave him driving work on his car regularly.

 

Forward and backward linkage is yet to be ascertained. Investigation is in progress.
