ITBP EXHIBITS RARE ARTIFACTS OF REMOTE HIMALAYAN AND
N. E.  REGION

New Delhi, 06 November 2015:-A Welfare Exhibition of Himveer Wives Welfare Association (HWWA) showcasing stalls from field units and formations of Indo-Tibetan Border police (ITBP) was inaugurated by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi,  Hon’ble  Union Minister for Women and Child Development at CPWD Ground, Sector-12, R.K. Puram, New Delhi on 06.11.15. On this occasion, Smt Sheila Chaudhary, President HWWA,  Sh. Krishna Chaudhary, DG, ITBP, Senior officers of the Force, Members of HWWA Family and other invitees were present. This Welfare Exhibition has been organized on the occasion of 54th Raising Day celebrations of the Force. Functioning from initial years of ITBP, HWWA was registered in 1994 and has been active in organizing welfare activities for the families of the Force and Civil population in border areas.

Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi in her inaugural speech said that HWWA’s efforts are commendable in the field of welfare activities in ITBP. She congratulated HWWA for showcasing the rare products and culture of the remote Himalayan region in the exhibition and for the message of integrity in diversity to the nation.

Smt. Sheila Chaudhary, President HWWA welcomed the Chief Guest on this occasion and said that HWWA contributes in its own humble way to make the lives of the Force personnel and their families more meaningful and enriched. The fund generated in this exhibition helps in furthering of HWWA’s goals. The exhibition is an annual event and is keenly awaited by the participants and the people of Delhi.

The Chief Guest also released the souvenir– ‘Parampra’- the special annual issue of HWWA on the occasion.

Smt. Gandhi took a round of stalls and appreciated the efforts of ITBP for welfare of its families and border population. The exhibition showcases the skills of ITBP families and welfare activities undertaken by HWWA. It exhibits products prepared and manufactured in the welfare centers of the Units located all over India. The exhibition also showcases the rare artifact, handicraft and cultural heritage of the Himalayas and North-Eastern Region of India. The profit from the exhibition will be utilized for the welfare of the Force personnel.

HWWA works for the welfare of the families of the Force personnel with a specific focus on women empowerment. It trains families in food processing, tailoring, weaving, stitching, beautician course, home management, computer training, yoga classes, embroidery, pattern making, painting and child care. The doctors of the Force give information on wellness, hygiene, prevention of HIV/AIDS, family planning to improve the quality of life of the Force personnel and their families. For welfare of these families, perception Management Centers are being operated by HWWA in remote border Units of ITBP.

Various field Units and Formations of ITBP have displayed a wide variety of products to the HWWA Exhibition, like carpets, shawls, dry fruits, herbal products, cane furniture, Lucknowi chicken embroidery and wood carvings from various parts of country. A special stall showcasing the history, training, operations, welfare activities and adventure sports in ITBP has also been a centre of attraction.

There will be numerous cultural performances by the Force personnel along with show by ITBP’s Jazz, Brass and Pipe Band. This musical feat will also be a centre of attraction for visitors to exhibition and they will have a glimpse of ITBP’s cherished heritage.

The exhibition will remain open for the public till 2000 hrs on 06 to 07th November, 2015 and till 1800 hrs on 8th November, 2015. Closing function will start at 1730 Hrs on 8th November, 2015.
