Jat quota stir: #Rohtak IGP, two #DSPs suspended for ‘negligence’
With life slowly returning to normalcy after a violent quota agitation by members of the Jat community, the Haryana government Thursday suspended three police officers, including the former IGP of Rohtak range, the epicentre of the agitation, after they were found negligent in performing their duty during the 10-day protests.
The three are Shrikant Jadhav, an IPS officer, and Haryana Police Service officers, Amit Bhatia and Amit Dahiya, both Rohtak DSPs. Departmental inquiries have been initiated against the trio.
During their suspension, headquarters of both DSPs will be in the office of DGP, Haryana, in Panchkula.
Sanjay Kumar will take over as IGP (Rohtak range), while fellow IPS officer Parminder Rai will be the new Director General, State Vigilance Bureau, with immediate effect.
ADGP (Vigilance) B K Sinha was, meanwhile, appointed as the nodal investigation officer to look into crimes committed during the stir. He will collect all existing video recordings and other evidence from various sources that can pinpoint the damage that occurred to various public and private properties from February 14 to 23 to identify the perpetrators and executors of the violence.
Three DSP-rank officers and four Haryana Civil Service officers were also transferred out of Rohtak and Sonepat districts.
Veer Singh (ACP, Faridabad) and Vivek Chaudhary (DSP, Mewat) have been posted as Rohtak DSPs, according to an official release.
Meanwhile, Rohtak police Thursday formed a special investigation team to conduct further investigations into the FIR registered Wednesday against former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s close aide Virender, according to information.
