Jindal Stainless and Gurugram administration flag off COVID-19 awareness campaign in the city
Gurugram, September 9, 2020: Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer, joined hands with the
Gurugram administration to initiate a month-long COVID-19 awareness campaign in a ceremony held today at Mini Secretariat, Gurugram. The campaign was flagged-off by Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram, Shri Amit Khatri in the presence of other senior officials. Organised by Jindal Stainless as part of Haryana government’s IEC (Information, Education, Communication) Campaign, this awareness initiative will sport stainless steel e-rickshaws on Gurugram roads announcing safety and precautionary messages and information around every nook and corner of the city.
Present on the occasion, Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Vijay Sharma said, “COVID-19 has severely impacted a number of lives in the state. As economic activity resumes in the capital and NCR region, it is high time that we learn to put our family and community’s health first by practicing precautionary measures at all times. We thank the Gurugram administration for partnering in this initiative and look forward to sensitising people, and ensuring that they become more aware and follow safety norms in their daily routines.”
Flagging off the campaign, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram, Shri Amit Khatri said, “A pandemic of this scale urges for efficient private-public cooperation. It is heartening to see dutiful corporate citizens like Jindal Stainless coming to the rescue. As COVID-19 continues to affect thousands of lives in the city, we hope to educate masses and urge them to take precautions in an environment-friendly manner with this initiative.”
Stainless steel e-rickshaws, developed by Jindal Stainless in collaboration with local manufacturers, are an economical and sustainable means of transportation and last-mile connectivity. When compared to the conventional carbon steel e-rickshaws, a stainless steel e-rickshaw assures longer life and more safety since its chassis is corrosion resistant. Further, these e-rickshaws are easy to maintain, hygienic, and durable. Jindal Stainless has taken up a number of initiatives in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to support the government and masses. The Company distributed ration and food supplies to migrants and daily wage workers during the
lockdown period. It also dedicated a 125-bed isolation ward at Jindal Institute of Medical Sciences, Hisar solely for COVID-19 patients. Also, the management and employees at Jindal Stainless contributed a part of their salary to the Prime Minister’s citizen assistance and relief in emergency situations fund (PM-CARES) to support the country’s fight against the pandemic.
