#Karnataka: No ambulance at hospital, man carries daughter’s body on moped

New Delhi: In a tragic incident, a poor Karnataka man was forced to carry his daughter’s body on a two-wheeler moped as no ambulance was available at the government hospital where his daughter was being treated. According to the reports, the deceased, Rathnamma, daughter of a daily-wage labourer, Thimmappa, was suffering from severe fever and cold. Initially, she was admitted to a private hospital in Kodigenahalli in Madhugiri taluk, Tumakuru district. Later, she was referred to a government hospital where Rathnamma was declared brought dead.

Despite all his efforts, Thimmappa could not get any help from the hospital authorities as they claimed they lack number of ambulances. Many advised him to hire a taxi to carry his daughter’s body, but the family could not afford it. Thus, he was forced took his daughter’s body on a two wheeler. Blaming the hospital’s negligence for daughter’s death, the deceased’s father said,”I took her to hospital twice as her condition had worsened. By evening her body was cold but no one was available so had to carry her on moped.”
