KEJRIWAL GOVERNMENT HAS ACCEPTED THE 4th DELHI FINANCE COMMISSION REPORT AND KNOWS THAT MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS NEED 8000 CRORE RUPEES NON PLAN FUND EVERY YEAR THEN WHY ARE THEY NOT RELEASING IT AND INSTEAD TALKING ABOUT FRAUDS IN MCDs

-Satish Upadhyay

New Delhi, 3rd February.  Delhi BJP President Sh. Satish Upadhyay has said that it is regrettable that after the sufferings of the people of Delhi and agitation by the Municipal Corporation employees for about 8 days when Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal got up from his slumber he did not take care of people or the welfare of the employees but has issued irrelevant political statement.

Shri Upadhyay has said that today when Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal spoke he issued a political statement. Government has already accepted the recommendations of 4th Finance Commission meaning thereby the CM knows that the Municipal Corporations need aboutRs. 12000 crore for running the three Municipal Corporations smoothly. The 4th Finance Commission has recommended about Rs. 8000 crore per year for the Municipal Corporations and the Kejriwal Government has accepted this, then how can CM Kejriwal now talk about frauds in the Municipal Corporations instead of releasing justified funds to the Municipal Corporations ?

Shri Upadhyay said that just after coming to power the Modi Government increased the share of the States in the Central revenue by 10% but the Kejriwal Government is not ready to do so. Is this not due to political agenda of the Aam Aadmi Party ?

Shri Upadhyay further said that Delhi Government has released only about Rs. 2000 crores to the Municipal Corporations in this financial year whereas the Government which has already accepted the recommendations 4th Finance Commission knows that the Municipal Corporations require Rs. 5800 crores only for the payment of salary to the employees. Then why the Kejriwal Government is talking about providing Loan to the Municipal Corporations in place of directly releasing the required funds?

Even at the time of strike in June, 2015 the Kejriwal Government played dirty politics and tried to provoke the employees. Today again the Chief Minister has announced about providing loan to the Corporations taking advantage of the sensitive issue of payment of salaries to the employees. It is regrettable that the Kejriwal Government is trying to extort interest on the money from the MCDs or in fact people of Delhi by way of giving loan to the Municipal Corporations for which they are entitled as share in the revenue.

He said that the accounts of Corporations are already audited by the CAG, the attendance of employees are recorded by Biometric system and if the Government has any doubt of fraud then it should issue orders to the Director of Local Bodies to take police action against the Corporations.

Shri Upadhyay said that we shall continue our political agitation of demanding payments to the Corporations according to the recommendations of the 4th Finance Commission and also ensure that Delhi becomes neat and clean within 48 hours of the end of the strike of employees.
