New Delhi (India), 21st March 2023: Indian origin Laxman Narasimhan has succeeded Howard Schultz as CEO of Starbucks. Narasimhan is the latest business executive of Indian descent to hold the top job at a major multinational.

Six months after Starbucks announced that Pune-born Narasimhan, 55, would succeed Howard Schultz as CEO and a member of the board of directors, he now leads the business.

Narasimhan took to LinkedIn to express his gratitude and appreciation for the role he had been offered. He also lauded his predecessor Howard Shultz for the massive success of the iconic coffee company and praised his efforts and hard-work to build the company from scratch.

He jotted down in his post, “I accept the position of CEO of Starbucks with the deepest of humility. The foundation Howard has laid – building from scratch an iconic global brand fuelled by a lasting passion to uplift humanity – is truly remarkable.”

Narasimhan also placed high hopes and trust in the future and further added, “Starbucks is an incredible company and its best days are ahead of it.”

Laxman Narasimhan relocated from London to the Seattle region in October of last year when he was appointed by Starbucks as the company’s next CEO as a successor of Shultz.
