LinkedIn admits rise of recruitment scams on its platform, warna users to be more cautious

New Delhi (India), 27th February 2023: In an extremely tense atmosphere of layoffs especially by tech companies around the world, the cases of recruitment scams have been on the rise. In a report the Vice President of LinkedIn Oscar Rodriguez expressed that there is certainly a rise in these scams over the past few months.

LinkedIn is a social media platform where job and employment opportunities as well as businesses opportunities are posted. Through connections and links many people in the past have been able to find employment in tech companies and other firms.

He expressed that because of the large scale lay offs people are falling for the scams on the Microsoft owned platform more than ever before. Scammers ate using Deceptive images and ChatGPT derived job applications that look extremely legitimate. Rodriguez said, “There’s certainly an increase in the sophistication of the attacks and the cleverness,”

He said that original Skype images of recruiters from original companies are used to deceive people. A cyber security company Zscaler said that recently in a scam that targeted job aspirants, fraudsters approached people through LinkedIn’s direct messaging feature InMail. Using AI generated profiles that could fool the human eye very easily.
