NOIDA,(14/3/2019): The Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 10 had announced the dates of the Elections. The Elections will be held in 7 phases which will start from 11 April and will end on 19 May 2019.

Since Gautam Budh Nagar along with many other regions will host the polling on 11 April in first phase of the elections, the district administration on the orders of EC has started the works to make the elections fair and fine.

Today in Noida, EVM and VVPAT machine were operated on behalf of the district administration for the media personells before the voting to aware them about the functioning of the VVPAT.

Officials of the district administration explained to the whole process before the media. Officials claim that transparency will come from VVPAT. The voter will know whether he got the vote he voted or not. If the button is pressed on EVM machine then the voter will see the name of the party’s symbol and candidate’s name on the slip. This slip will remain on the VVPAT display for seven seconds. During this time it can be seen whether the vote is correct or not.

After that the slip will fall into the box. By the way, EVMs will have names and symbols of 16 candidates. If the number of candidates is more than 16 then the EVM will be changed. Every EVM will have a VVPAT machine. Every point will be taken care of at the time the machine is installed. The administration said that all EVMs will be kept safe in the Strong Room after voting.

VVPAT feature was introduced to verify that the vote polled by a voter goes to the correct candidate. This second line of verification process was introduced after allegations around Electronic Voting Machines’ tampering cropped up. The VVPAT paper roll is designed for printing 1,500 ballot slips for each election.
