LS Elections 2019: First time voters talks about election issues and involvement of women in politics

New Delhi: After two weeks, first phase of Lok Sabha polls will start.
Today, Ten News and a chat girl students of Delhi University who will be voting for the first time in upcoming general elections.
According to them, education, employment and safety were the major issues that should be concerned by the political fraternity.
Speaking to Ten News a girl said, “This time the political parties must include the issue of education and employment as both of the issues are inter-related”.
“Real issues like women safety are invisible, none of the political leaders talked about this issue In their political rallies I am just waiting for that when we talk about women rather than initiating talk on temples and mosques”, she added.
When we asked about the involvement of women in active politics, another girl “Despite of increasing female political leaders, male political leaders passes sexist statements for rising female leaders, they also talk about Priyanka Gandhi, she has been criticised a lot by political fraternity. If the other leaders will appreciate, it will open an opportunity for other woman to be a part of country’s active politics.”
“If the involvement of women will increase in active politics then it will also encourage other women to step into politics and women leaders also work for the strong laws for safety of women in the country”, she added.
A girl who belongs to South Delhi claimed that our family don’t allow us to go out after seven in the evening, she also claimed that a lot of eve teasing and harassment.”
Explaining the environment outside her college she said, “A lot of people we see masturbating outside our college.”
Another one stated that Political leaders concerns about the safety of women only during the elections time. We can see hundreds of prominent male political leaders but if we talk about the female political leaders we only see few women in country’s active politics. These days BJPs veteran leaders Sushma Swaraj and Nirmala Sitaraman can only be seen.
