Mumbai (Maharashtra), 20th Jan 2023: Maharashtra government has approved Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) proposal to set up an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Pune.

The plant, which is expected to cost Rs 10,000 crore, will have the capacity to produce up to 1.5 lakh electric vehicles annually.

The proposed facility will be the company’s second EV manufacturing facility in the state, after it set up its first EV facility in Chakan, near Pune, in 2012.

The new facility will be spread over an area of 100 acres and is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 5,000 people.

M&M’s decision to set up the facility in Pune is in line with the government’s vision to make Maharashtra a hub for electric vehicle manufacturing and to promote sustainable transportation in the state.
