‘Maintain status quo,’ Delhi L-G Anil Baijal rejects Arvind Kejriwal’s proposal to lift the weekend curfew

New Delhi, January 21: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s proposal to lift weekend curfew and recommendation to eliminate the odd-even system in the markets.
However, He allowed private offices to reopen with 50 per cent capacity & has further asked the government to ‘maintain status quo’ till the Covid-19 situation improves further.
The statement from Baijal stated that the decision regarding llifting of weekend curfew and opening of markets would be taken once the COVID-19 situation in Delhi improves further.
“Agreed to 50% attendance in private offices. But suggested that ‘status quo’ be maintained with regards to weekend curfew and opening of markets and decision be taken on the subject once the Covid situation improves further.” Statement from LG House, ANI reported.
Earlier on Friday, the proposal by Arvind Kejriwal was sent to Lt Governor Anil Baijal for his consent.
However now, as a part of the weekend curfew, all movements will remain restricted across Delhi from 10 pm Fridays to 5 am Mondays.
Meanwhile, Delhi on Thursday reported 12,306 fresh Covid-19 cases and 43 more fatalities due to the Covid-19, while the positivity rate dipped to 21.48 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
