New Delhi, 12th July 2023: Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize recipient and prominent education campaigner, tweeted throwback photos on the night of her 26th birthday, which coincides with Malala Day, which has been commemorated yearly since 2013.

Malala marked the tenth anniversary of her landmark UN address by expressing gratitude for the remarkable path she has taken since then.

Malala tweeted, “It’s hard to believe tomorrow is my 26th birthday – ten years since I spoke at the United Nations.”

The activist remarked that her 16-year-old self could not have predicted the incredible experiences, amazing people, and places she would see. Her steadfast commitment to fight for girls’ education, on the other hand, remains unwavering.

She said, “16-year-old me had no idea what would happen next, the amazing people she would meet, the places she would go. She was just determined to continue her fight for girls’ education.”

Malala went on to say that since that historic day, she has made it a point to spend her birthdays with girls, which has taken her to Nigeria, Kenya, Brazil, Ethiopia, and refugee camps in Lebanon, Rwanda, and Iraq.

This practise has given her the opportunity to engage with young girls all over the world and push for their right to an education.

In 2014 Malala was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17. Malala Day is an important global day that highlights the importance of education and women’s rights. It underscores that education is a vital right for all females, not a privilege.
