New Delhi, February 26: Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi on Saturday flagged off a bicycle rally at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, India Gate which was organised by RPO, Delhi & Ministry of External Affairs.
Lekhi participated in the cycle rally with diplomats and envoys under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
“Cycling, peddling should be encouraged to stay healthy and keep the environment also healthy. This rally has started from Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, will be concluded at National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi.” Lekhi said while she was at the rally.
Later taking to Twitter, she expressed happiness to flag off the bicycle rally and wrote, “Happy to flag off the bicycle rally today at @SAI_DhyanChand, India Gate organized by RPO, Delhi and @MEAIndia as part of @AmritMahotsav celebrations.”
She added, “We need to promote green mobility & sustainable transport through bicycles and e-cycles.”
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 Years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.
