MP CM Shivraj Chauhan warns schools against forcing girls to wear headscarves

Bhopal, 03rd June 2023: Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan warned all schools in the state against forcing female students to wear headscarves.

The leader issued the warning after acknowledging the case of a private school in Damoh, which allegedly forced girls, irrespective of their religion, to wear headscarves in the campus and made students sing Urdu poems in the school assemblies.

He asserted that the current administration would not tolerate such activities in the state and such schools will not be allowed to run. This comes after he had ordered an inquiry into the matter and asked the district collector to end the compulsion of wearing hijab and scarves as dress code by the school.

He emphasised the role of the New Education Policy and refused to let any other seemingly biased policy be followed in the state.
