MTS Powers Rapid Metro Gurgaon With Its 3GPLUS Network; Enables FREE HI-Speed Internet For Travelers

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that provides telecom services under the brand MTS today announced it partnership with Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) to provide FREE WiFi services on all trains running on the 5.1 Km long six station corridor connecting Sikanderpur Metro station, Cyber City, DLF Phase 2, DLF Phase 3 and Ambience Mall. In addition to all Rapid Metro trains, MTS will also provide FREE WiFi access on four stations including Sikanderpur, IndusInd Bank Cyber City, Phase 2 and Micromax Moulsari Avenue. To promote the service amongst commuters of Rapid Metro, MTS would be offering WiFi service Free for a period of six months. Through this initiative, 30,000 daily commuters of Rapid Metro will get to experience internet speeds of up to 9.8 Mbps.
This one of its kind service was launched in presence of Shiva Keshavan – Winter Olympian and MTS Brand Ambassador, Dmitry Shukov, CEO – MTS India, Sanjiv Rai, MD & CEO – Rapid Metro Gurgaon, Ashwani Khillan, CTO – MTS India and KV Ramachandra, COO, Delhi Circle – MTS India.
According to Dmitry Shukov, Chief Executive Officer – MTS India, “It is a proud moment for MTS as we flag off the first internet powered Rapid Metro in Gurgaon. This one of its kind service will enable commuters to access fast and consistent data speeds of up to 9.8 Mbps on MTS’ 3GPLUS network. Through this initiative, MTS will be providing FREE internet access to about 30,000 travelers on a daily basis”. Dmitry further added, “MTS India is also looking at opportunities to provide similar services in other public places including metros & educational institutes in other cities”.

MTS had commissioned an internal research to gauge consumer interest in using WiFi services while traveling in Rapid Metro. The study undertaken by AZ Research highlighted that more than 95% of commuters wanted to have access to internet while using the Rapid Metro. The percentage was highest amongst travelers in the age-group of 15-35 years.

This one of its kind service will enable 30,000 daily commuters of Rapid Metro to access FREE internet with speeds of up to 9.8 Mbps. With most of the daily commuters using smartphones and tablets; people will experience fast and consistent data speeds on MTS’ 3GPLUS network”.

For greater customer convenience and to enable access to free internet, MTS has set up 5 kiosks on 4 Rapid Metro stations, two at Sikanderpur and one each at IndusInd Bank Cyber City, Phase 2 and Micromax Moulsari Avenue – where commuters can procure WiFi coupons & experience the power of MTS network. The kiosks will also house latest MTS products including MBlaze Dongles, MTS Smartphones, Feature Phones etc.

Getting Started –An Easy, 4 Step Process To Access FREE Internet on Rapid Metro:
1. Visit an MTS kiosk on the Rapid Metro stations and take a free WiFi coupon – scratch the same to get the Activation PIN.
2. Look for available WiFi networks on your device – select “MTS 3GPLUS Wi-Fi” network.
3. On entering any URL, users will be automatically redirected to the MTS 3GPLUS WiFi page, select NEW USER option and enter a valid Mobile Number and the Activation PIN, click the ‘submit’ button.
4. Users will receive a password via SMS on the mobile number entered, use password & start surfing the internet.
