NDMC conducts a Regional Workshop on Swachh Survekshan 2019 in National Capital

New Delhi :– On Tuesday, Regional Workshop on Swachh Survekshan 2019 was held at NDMC, New Delhi. A Programme in line with the government’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ Program which is flagship initiative to ensure proper segregation and recycling of waste in a manner that protects and restores the environment, resulting in clean and hygienic neighborhoods. Swachh Survekshan 2019 program will also focus on sustainability and encourage large scale citizen participation and ensure progress towards garbage free and open defecation free cities.

Hardeep Puri, Minister of State (I/C) for Housing & Urban Affairs, addressing the audience at the Regional Workshop on Swachh Survekshan 2019 said,

“Swachh Survekshan 2019 will focus on sustainability and encourage large scale citizen participation and ensure progress towards garbage free and open defecation free cities, the Ease of Living Index will encourage cities to move towards an outcome based approach to Urban planning & Management.”

Naresh Kumar, NDMC chairman, said,

“In 2016 we started Survekshan from 73 citizens of the country which has gone to 3000-4000 in 2018 and in the year 2019 the Swachta Survekshan will cover all the citizens in the country. Over the period of time many new things are added in the Swachh Survekshan. In this year Swachh Survekshan 2019, we have done some major improvements.”

BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said,

“The plastic waste is one of the biggest threat for us. How we can manage, Sewage, Landfill and plastic trash is also a big challenge. The plastic molecules have been found in salt. That means all the plastic waste are going in our oceans. When that plastic breaks up the molecules are coming in your food chain in form of salt. If plastic molecules enters in our food chain that can be a big threat for all of us.”
