 HUGE QUANTITY OF SPURIOUS NORPHENE AMPOULES SEIZED AND ONE MANUFACTURING UNIT BASED AT GOHANA, HARYANA UNEARTHED WITH THE ARREST OF TWO.

THE CONCOCTION OF NORPHENE IS WIDELY CONSUMED BY DRUG ADDICTS.
NORPHENE IS A CONTROLED SYNTHETIC DRUG FOR ITS MANUFACTURING, SUPPLY AND SALE OWING TO ITS WIDESPREAD MISUSE.

Crime Branch has arrested two persons namely Sunil Sharma (37 yrs) s/o Nar Singh Das r/o Greater NOIDA, UP, and Naresh Kumar Chhikara (53 yrs) s/o Shri Hazari Lal Chhikara r/o Model Town, Rohtak, Haryana, who were involved in illegal manufacturing, storing and supplying spurious injections of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride commonly known as Norphene and normally used in cancer treatment and at de-addiction centers but is widely misused by the drug addicts. Lacs of ampoules of spurious injections of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride have been recovered from them.

INFORMATION, RAID AND INTERROGATION:-

On 24.08.2015, information was received by Inter State Cell that one person namely Sunil Sharma has illegally stored drugs in a godown at Shashi Garden, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Delhi and he would bring more drugs at his godown. On this information, a team of Inter State Cell led by DCP Bhisham Singh, consisting of ACP KPS Malhotra, Inspr. Vijay Rastogi, SIs Vijay Samaria, Braham Dev, HCs Kanwar Pal, Ajeet, Surender, Niranjan, Abhay, Cts Satyabir, Raj Kumar, Sandeep, Vijender, Vikram, Ranjeet, Ravi, Dhanraj and Manjeet was constituted under the supervision of Addl CP Alok Kumar to nab him. The team alongwith officers from Drugs Control Department, GNCT, Delhi conducted a raid and apprehended accused Sunil Sharma alongwith 1,40,000 ampoules of spurious injections of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride in his possession without license. A case vide FIR No.128/15 u/s 418/465/471 IPC & 18 (C) Drugs & Cosmetic Act was registered at PS Crime Branch in this regard and the accused Sunil was arrested.

On sustained interrogation, he confessed his involvement in procuring and supplying of spurious drugs/injections. He further disclosed that he used to get these injections manufactured at a manufacturing unit at Gohana, Haryana.

At his instance, a raid was also conducted at the said manufacturing unit where these injections were prepared and the accused Naresh Kumar Chhikara was arrested. About 6000 ampoules of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride injections have been recovered from his manufacturing unit which has been sealed by the team consisting of police and Drug Control officers of Haryana.

PEOPLE SUFFERING THE FOLLOWING DISEASES ARE PRESCRIBED THIS DRUG: –

Convulsions
Shock (cold sweat might be a sign of this)
Reduced consciousness (feeling light headed or faint)
Liver disease
Breathing difficulties, such as asthma
Previous opioid addiction
Myasthenia gravis (a serious muscle-weakness and fatigue)
Cancer patient having severe pain
At De-addiction centers.

ABUSE OF BUPRENORPHINE HYDROCHLORIDE:-

Like other narcotic medicines, it can cause slow breathing; death may occur if breathing becomes too slow.
These injections are being consumed by drugs addicts all over India especially in North and North East regions.
These injections are banned for sell-purchase in open market. Only a license holder can manufacture as per terms and conditions of license, sell, distribution and storage but these injections were being manufactured illegally to earn huge wrongful gain.

PROFILE:-

Accused Sunil Sharma (37 yrs) s/o Nar Singh Das r/o Greater NOIDA, UP, is the mastermind. He originally hails from Rohtak, Haryana and had shifted to Delhi in search of employment. He used to get these spurious injections/drugs manufactured illegally at a very low cost and sell on high margins. In 2005, he used to work in a medical shop at Bhagirath Place where he came to know the loopholes in manufacturing and supplying of drugs. Initially, he started storing drugs illegally as he was not having valid license. After making good money, he started getting manufactured these drugs/injections on his own from small manufacturing units by offering handsome amount to the manufacturer.
Accused Naresh Kumar Chhikara (53 yrs) s/o Hazari Lal Chhikara r/o Model Town, Rohtak, runs a manufacturing unit of drugs and injections in the name of ‘Chhikara Pharma’ at Gohana, Haryana. He is known to accused Sunil Sharma as both are from same district. Recently, accused Sunil Sharma contacted Naresh Chhikara to get injections of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride manufactured at handsome rates which were higher than the prevailing rates in the market. Accused Naresh Chhikara was stuck in his net who started manufacturing injection of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride for Sunil Sharma.
