Greater Noida (14/10/2023): In an interview with Ten News at the 56th IHGF Delhi Fair, Mohammad Imran, the President of Nirayatak Handloom Co-operative Society, shared insights into his organization. He described it as a cooperative society with a total of 105 members, based in Kanpur. Their operation is akin to a cottage industry, with 20 looms located within households where skilled artisans craft a wide range of products using raw materials.

Imran showcased their handloom products, with a primary focus on natural jute rugs, wool rugs, and cotton rugs. He emphasized that different countries have varying demands, such as Italy’s preference for cotton rugs, making it an ideal destination for Italian buyers. Similarly, there is a strong demand for jute rugs in Spain, attracting customers from that region. Additionally, Imran noted the global popularity of wool rugs, particularly in countries like the United States and Canada.

What makes their handloom products unique and special is their handmade quality, coupled with their competitive pricing relative to the market. This quality and affordability have led to substantial demand for their products in countries such as Europe, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, America, and Finland.

Imran also highlighted the utility of handloom carpets in the defense sector. Nirayatak Handloom Co-operative Society has been a reliable supplier of these carpets to the defense and railway sectors for the past two decades, underscoring their commitment to quality and longstanding service.
