New Delhi: IMA organised a cycle rally yesterday across India with an aim to sensitise the masses Opposing the Union government’s move to pass the National Medical Commission Bill.A provision in the Bill states that the government can fix fee for only 40% of the seats in private medical colleges. A move strongly opposed by the doctors.

Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar, IMA president Firmly believe, safety of people treated by practitioners of homoeopathy, unani and ayurveda will be compromised once a central bill allowing them to prescribe allopathic medicines becomes a law.

Ten News Caught Exclusively With IMA President, Dr. Ravi to Speak more about the NMC bill Agitation, Speaking to Ten News Correspondent, Prerit Chauhan, He Said, “The present NMC Bill allows private medical colleges to fix charges for up to 60 percent of seats which will pave the way for corruption. this bill is passed then there will be a dark day in history. Corruption will be expensive even in the medical field. Upon passing the bill, the right to decide the fees for 60 per cent seats in private medical colleges will be given to the management. After MBBS, a further examination will be required for practice. There are such provisions in the bill, which will allow AYUSH doctors to write Modern Medicine.”

“The Bill has the potential to adversely alter the course of medical education and healthcare delivery in India and do irrevocable damage,” added IMA National President Dr. Ravi.
