Noida administration creates dedicated team to monitor social media, Watsapp for rumor mongering

(04/07/2017) Noida : In order to curb the menace of social media rumor mongering Noida administration has decided to create a special team of five trained professionals. A special war room for the same will be created in District Magistrate’s camp office in sector 27, Noida.
The cell will monitor exchange of messages on social media portals and internet messaging services to prevent and take actions against posts that could create communal tensions. It will also be assigned to track complaints and issues being raised by people.
Five people will be deployed in the team from 8 AM to 10 PM. Two operators, district information officer (NIC) and district information officer Rakesh Chauhan as well as a programmer will form the team which will operate in two shifts.
NIC will take care of operational technical details whereas administrative job will be handled by DIO. An objectionable post will be brought into the notice of District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate and action will be taken as per their orders on the same.
The cell will also be used to promote different government schemes and to make people aware about general rules, regulations and duties as per Indian constitutional framework.
