Noida, (31/12/2018): New Year’s Eve celebrations in Noida and Greater Noida will be silent this year.
The district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar clarified yesterday, that there would be an effective and strict ban on bursting of crackers on New Year’s Eve.
The administration had not granted anyone with the permission to manufacture crackers since October. This permission had also not been given to the ‘green crackers’ manufacturers.
The administration said that “no one has approached them to get the license to manufacture green crackers, which means that there would not be any bursting of crackers on the New Year’s Eve effectively”.
Also the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, BN Singh, said, “We will be forced to take serious action against violators. If we find people bursting crackers illegally, action will be taken immediately”.
This strict stand against the bursting of crackers, comes as a corrective measure following the mismanagement of cracker bursting on Diwali. The sellers took licenses to sell green crackers but instead sold the banned crackers with them. Which led the administration in trouble as the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) had issued a show-cause notice to them. The administration had to lodge FIRs against the sellers to breach their licenses.
On October 23, the Supreme Court had issued special directives on cracker manufacture and sale in the country, especially for occasions like Diwali, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. As per the order, people have been permitted to burst ‘green crackers’ between 11:45 pm and 12:45 am on New Year night.
