Greater Noida (24/02/2019) : Clouds of uncertainty are still upon the Noida International Airport. Once again a group of farmers approached Allahabad High Court with a writ petition demanding four times compensation for the land earmarked for Airport.

The compensation rate of Rs 2,300 per sq mt as decided by the government but some of the villages are not satisfied with this. For this, farmers were protesting since last four months but when they didn’t received a positive response from district administration they approached Allahabad High Court. A total of 83 farmers had filed seven writs that will be heard by the court on Monday.

On the other hand, district administration is planning to file a counter appeal against this move of farmers. And one of the district administration officials quoted that “the move taken by some of the farmers are in their individual capacity and for their own share of land which doesn’t cater the entire landmark”.

The district administration has prepared a rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) report, after conducting door-to-door surveys, and recorded minute details of each household. Now it’s up to the court whether it will direct the government for increased compensation, or can reject the writs if the court feels no strong merits in the petition.

While in between all this dispute, within a day or two process of providing compensation to landowners will start.
