Greater Noida (30/5/2019):  While the residents of Noida and Greater Noida may have to wait for another 2-3 years to catch the first flight from Jewar Airport, the digital avatar of same has already arrived.

Soon after the board meeting, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority on Thursday launched the website and the twitter handle of the Noida International Airport to be constructed at Jewar.

The website, which although still has dummy text, was launched today and can be accessed at nialjewar.com. Unfortunately, the website as of now lacks even the basic information of the NIAL board, budget or related things. The twitter handle which seems to be existing from October 2018 was also officially launched as @NIAJEWAR on Thursday.

On the occasion, the bid for Jewar Airport was also opened and now the last date of receiving the e-queries will be July 1 whereas the opening of technical and financial bid will take place on November 6 and November 29 respectively. The last date for purchasing the bid will be 15 days prior to the bid submission date.

Detailing about the project YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh said “This 29,560 crore mega projects will be in 1334 hectare land and witness its first flight by 2023. The airport will have two runways in initial phase which will be extended to six runway making the airport largest and one of its kind in India. The whole project will be developed in four phases with phase 1 capacity 12 million passengers ramping up to 70 million in 4 phase.”

As in next Ten years, IGI Delhi will reach up to its maximum threshold so this airport will work as second hinterland and will divert the traffic. 44 % to 55% of the cargo traffic is being generated in the primary hinterland of Noida International Airport.

NIAL will be following a single Bid process and adapt QCBS method to select the developer and NIAL will also be the golden shareholder in the project which means the body will have veto power in key decisions.
