Noida police pays tribute to martyrs of Kanpur firing incident

Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 4, 2020: As a gesture of support and tribute, Noida police has decided to donate One day salary of all its police personnel to the families of Kanpur firing martyrs.

On Saturday, Noida Commissioner of Police Alok Singh, along with other senior officials paid their respects to the slain police officials. They also kept two minute of silence to pay their tributes.

8 policemen were killed in the encounter which broke out when police went to arrest him in Bikaru, Kanpur yesterday.

Hardened criminal Vikas Dubey, 48, faced 60 cases and carried a reward of Rs 25,000. He along with members of his group had escaped Bikru village in the dark, following a planned attack on the police party. As many as 25 police teams were formed to nab the criminal after the incident.

According to local media reports, Vikas Dubey had also illegally occupied land worth crores of rupees in Kanpur and other places. He was found of luxury vehicles and owned many of them, including expensive furniture and gadgets.

Earlier on Saturday, Dubey’s house in Kanpur was demolished by district administration. Two of his SUVs—a Scorpio and a Fortuner—was also destroyed, according to officials.

Moreover, the local Station House Officer (SHO) was also suspended on Saturday following a departmental enquiry.

“At the time of encounter, he fled the encounter site. Had he faced the criminals, situation could have been different,” Kanpur Inspector General, Mohit Agarwal told media persons while sharing the details.
