Ola Rape Case : Greater Noida police arrests both accused in record time, cab seized!

(27/04/2018) Greater Noida : In a shocking incident of rape that took place in Greater Noida yesterday, a 25 year old BPO employee was raped by the friend of the ola cab that she had booked. The incident took place around 4 in the evening when the victim booked a cab from Noida to commute to Greater Noida’s Surajpur.

When she boarded the cab the driver already had another person sitting with him on the front seat. On the way she was offered a sedated cold-drink on the pretext of hot weather. After she was doped, the two accused brought her to forests of village Dayanagar in Jarcha police station area. After reaching there the Ola cab driver Ashok Lohia left the spot whereas his friend Praveen alias Pintu raped her in the bushes.

Late at night she was rescued by police after villagers raised an alarm and called police. A case was registered by the woman under section 376, 328 among others.

Accused Arrested, Cab seized :

Working over the details of cab provided by the victim, the police team led by Jarcha police station officer in charge Shailendra Pratap Singh raided the house of driver Ashok and confesticated the cab used for luring the victim. On the basis of interrogation, they also got information about his friend Praveen and both of them were arrested by Friday afternoon.

Ola denies booking :

Late evening ola spokesperson denied booking through their platform and said, “We regret the unfortunate incident however we would like to  clarify that cab wasn’t booked through our platform”.

Official press release by Greater Noida police however reads that victim has booked Ola cab for the journey when the incident occurred.
