On final day of IHGF 2022, Development Commissioner Handicrafts awards exhibitors for best display in 11 categories

Greater Noida / Delhi NCR – 18th October 2022 – The 54th edition of the IHGF Delhi Fair concluded with a Valedictory and Best Display Awards Ceremony graced by Shantmanu, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. Raj K Malhotra, Chairman, EPCH; Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH & Chairman, IEML; Members of Committee of Administration, EPCH; Vice Chairmen, EPCH – Dileep Baid; Avdesh Agarwal, President, Reception Committee, IHGF Delhi Fair–Autumn 2022; and R K Verma, Executive Director, EPCH were also present on the occasion. These were the Ajai Shankar and P.N. Suri Memorial Awards for best design and display at the fair. 04 buyers were also felicitated for patronizing the IHGF Delhi Fair, consistently over a period of time. An eminent member exporter Najmul Islam of M/s Moradabad Handicrafts of India, Moradabad, also known for his role towards social welfare, was felicitated in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards handicrafts artisans’ welfare. Further, prominent member exporter from Jodhpur Radhya Shyam Ranga, M/s Latiyal Handicrafts Pvt. Ltd., Jodhpur were also felicited for his contribution towards exports of wooden handicrafts.

“Frequented by the international sourcing community as a prime trade platform of its kind, the globally acclaimed IHGF Delhi Fair with its 3034 exhibitors including permanent marts regional displays and a host of supporting events, is heading towards the culmination of its 54th edition. Sustainability has been at the fore as many buyers sought eco-friendly and compliant ranges in home and lifestyle products. European buyers have sourced interesting furniture pieces, home accents, gift products, house ware, bags and Christmas accessories, among other home products. Many selected basketry and home utility made from jute, hemp, coarse riverside grass, cane & bamboo, etc. Takers for textiles liked the variety of home furnishings as well as kitchen linen. Those looking for accessories like scarves, stoles and shawls have also expressed satisfaction at the options they saw. Gifts items, paper products and hardware as well as components too have offered good choice to buyers,” shared Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman, EPCH.

Further to this, Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH & Chairman-IEML said, “Our exhibitors demonstrated the extra effort to create unique and outstanding displays to engage and entice buyers. New product innovations have ascertained more business as many have added to their buyer lists. Every edition brings in something or the other to be amazed at, reported regular visitors. Happy with the large size fair and seamless layout with big spaces categorizing major product segments, this edition proved to be a refreshing and welcome change for many IHGF patrons who visited after break of few seasons.”

Avdesh Agarwal, President, Reception Committee, IHGF Delhi Fair observed that buyers are appreciating the inclusion of artisans and upcoming entrepreneurs alongside the big and established players. For most, coming to IHGF Delhi Fair is as pleasant an experience as their long and continued association with EPCH and the innovated product lines of their suppliers. And as they share, many are leaving with orders and some are on the verge of finalizing.

7690 overseas buyers from 98 countries and buying representatives as well as domestic volume buyers visited the fair that resulted in business enquiries worth around Rs. 3500 crores” informed R K Verma, Executive Director, EPCH. “Buyers visited from USA, UK, UAE, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Japan, Korea, Australia, Singapore, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Turkey, Italy, Canada, South Africa, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and many more,” he further added.

Supporting events at the fair, like panel discussion on Sustainability & Circularity, knowledge seminars on various topics related to organizational improvement, export finance, etc, ramp presentations and live craft demonstrations made the experience wholesome.

IHGF Delhi Fair-Autumn 2022 which was inaugurated on 14th October’22 by U. P. Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and visited by many dignitaries from the Govt. of India like, Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon, Minister of Industrial Policy & Investment Promotion, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh; M. N. Bhandari, Chairman under SAFEMA & PM; Dr.Raghuraj Singh, Chairman/Minister of Labour and Employment, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Vijoy Kumar Singh IAS, Secretary, Ex-Servicemen Welfare department, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India; Mayur Maheshwari, CEO of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) & in-charge of NRI Cell; Anil Agrawal, Addl. DGFT; Shantmanu, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India; and Smt. Shubhra, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, informed R K Verma, Executive Director, EPCH. The stature of the fair has reassured its patrons of its return back to full capacity with this edition. All look forward to the Spring 2023 edition with shared eagerness.

The Handicrafts exports during the year 2021-22 was Rs. 33253.00 Crores (US $ 4459.76 Million) registering a growth of 29.49% in rupee term & 28.90% in dollar terms over the previous year, informed by Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH & Chairman IEML.
