New Delhi, Sep 01, 2023: “140 crore Indians are looking towards us with the hope to relieve them of their miseries,” says Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as the INDIA alliance gears up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He warns opposition partners to brace for more attacks and arrests due to the BJP-led central government’s “vendetta politics.”

Kharge inaugurated the formal meeting of the INDIA alliance in Mumbai, emphasizing that the alliance’s success is evident in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s increasing attacks on it. He stated, “The more ground our alliance gains, the more the BJP government will misuse agencies against our leaders.”

Kharge criticized the BJP and RSS for hate crimes, the release of rape convicts, and atrocities against marginalized communities. He also addressed the government’s encroachment on the federal system, highlighting that states are being denied their share of tax revenues and MNREGA dues.

Additionally, Kharge questioned the Prime Minister’s silence on alleged stock manipulation by the Adani group and demanded a JPC probe into charges of round-tripping and opaque investments from a Mauritius-based company.

He asserted that the alliance’s unity makes the government nervous, leading to tactics like suspending MPs, filing privilege motions, and censoring speeches. Kharge concluded that the alliance represents the aspirations of all Indians who seek relief from the BJP’s “authoritarian misrule.
