June 09, 2016, Delhi: Having built and supported over 450 schools till date that will impact the lives of over 8,00,000 underprivileged children, P&G’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program P&G Shiksha continues to march forward with the motto ‘Padhega India, Badhega India’. Now in its 12th year, P&G Shiksha continues to make critical infrastructure and learning interventions by building and supporting schools across the country thereby providing underprivileged children with access to education. Taking the programme ahead this year, P&G Shiksha launched ‘Shiksha Superheroes’ a campaign to acknowledge consumers, the real-life superheroes who make a simple brand choice of buying P&G products and contribute to this noble cause impacting the lives of thousands of underprivileged children. Joining the movement this year, the Mast-Mast’ actress Raveena Tandon donned the avatar of ‘Shiksha Superhero’ for the students of P&G Shiksha School in Delhi. Raveena emphasized on the importance of education in the lives of children and encouraged the people of India to be Shiksha Superheroes by simply choosing P&G Products and contribute to the education of underprivileged children. Raveena shared her school memories with the children and was very impressed with the confidence, intelligence and exuberance demonstrated by them.Popular actress and Shiksha Superhero Raveena Tandon expressed her joy by saying, “This is my first year of partnering with P&G Shiksha, and it felt amazing to interact with these young kids who are really talented and have a bright future ahead of them. I am delighted to witness the difference that P&G Shiksha has made by building and supporting more than 450 schools that will impact the lives of 800,000 children. I spoke to one of the children and he had a powerful story to share. He was unable to go to school due to lack of infrastructure but after P&G Shiksha’s intervention, he can now go to a school in his neighbourhood and plans to study hard and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. I firmly believe that education is a basic right of every child and it is heartening to see a campaign like P&G Shiksha enabling education for underprivileged children and helping them realizes their dreams and providing them a better standard of living”.She further added, “Today, after talking to P&G Shiksha school children, I realized that how simple it is to be a Shiksha Superhero and impact the lives of these children. Everyone can become a real-life Superhero, all you have to do is choose P&G products and become part of the P&G Shiksha movement that will enable you to contribute towards education of underprivileged children. Like me, I want to encourage the people of India to be Shiksha Superheroes by making the simple brand choice of buying P&G products and make a difference in the lives of many more children. It is a simple and small choice from our end but has a large impact on the lives of these children.”With the objective of providing access to education to every child across the nation, P&G Shiksha is working extensively by making key infrastructure interventions.
