Priyanka Chopra ends partnership with New York restaurant Sona

New York(USA), 17/08/23: Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas has reportedly decided to discontinue her relationship with the New York City restaurant Sona, which she co-founded and opened in 2021. This shift is seen as her shift from the hospitality industry.

According to a spokeswoman for Chopra Jonas, her departure from Sona is a significant step because it allows her to explore her aspirations on a global basis.

While the famed restaurant will remain open, Chopra Jonas will no longer be involved creatively as a partner. Sona co-founder and close associate Maneesh K. Goyal expressed gratitude for her previous contributions.

Goyal told PEOPLE, “While she will no longer be involved as a creative partner moving forward, she remains in the Sona family and we are excited for our respective new chapters ahead.”

Sona, named after the Hindi word for gold, opened during the epidemic, attracting notice for its distinctive blend of art deco-inspired design and eclectic food options. Despite the difficult circumstances, the restaurant quickly acquired popularity, with guests praising both the sophisticated environment and the variety of cuisine reflecting various parts of the Indian subcontinent.

Paneer tikka and Goan fish curry are among the dishes on the menu. Goyal stressed Chopra Jonas’ position as a driving force during the restaurant’s inauguration, thanking her for contributing to crucial components of Sona’s identity, such as its design, menu curation, and even music selection, according to the publication.

The representative for Chopra Jonas confirmed to the publication that her affiliation with the restaurant was a significant milestone in her career, showing her commitment to promoting Indian culture via varied storytelling methods. Nonetheless, her involvement in the culinary and hospitality industries may go far beyond this.

The spokesperson further added, “Stepping away from Sona allows her to broaden these ambitions on a more global scale, and she’s excited about the possibilities that await.”
