GREATER NOIDA News (31/01/2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, witnessed a landmark moment in India’s healthcare innovation journey as its Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI) successfully hosted PULSEX – MedTech Startup OPD and Investor Connect. The event marked one of the first occasions in the country where doctors, MedTech startups, engineers and investors converged within a live government hospital setting to evaluate, validate and fund medical innovations.

Exceptional Response from Startups Nationwide

PULSEX received an overwhelming response from MedTech startups across India. In addition to the shortlisted innovators, several startups arrived with on-the-spot requests to present their ideas. Reflecting CMI GIMS’s commitment to inclusive and open innovation, most of these startups were given the opportunity to engage directly with clinicians, enabling wider participation and meaningful clinical discussions.

Doctors at the Core of Innovation Validation

Doctors played a pivotal role throughout the day, interacting closely with startup founders to assess the clinical seriousness of problems, unmet patient needs, safety considerations and real-world adoption challenges. Many participants emphasized that such doctor-led validation is crucial before any investment decision, underlining the strength and relevance of hospital-based innovation models.

Live Skill Lab Demonstrations Inside Hospital Campus

A guided tour of GIMS’s advanced skill lab, located within the hospital building, provided doctors, startups and investors with hands-on exposure to live demonstrations of medical devices. The demonstrations highlighted the practical applicability, clinical readiness and real-world impact of innovations being developed and tested at the institute.

Strong Investor Presence and High-Volume Pitching

* The event saw participation from around 20 active investors, making PULSEX one of the largest hospital-based investor engagements in the MedTech space to date.

* Twenty startups pitched simultaneously across three dedicated investor rooms

* Nearly 45 startup pitches were conducted over the course of the day

* Investors described the format as “historic”, noting that it is rare to witness startups pitching from inside a hospital environment, following direct clinical interaction and in the presence of practicing doctors.

Clinical Trial Achievement at GIMS

One of the major highlights of PULSEX was the successful completion of a clinical trial by the startup Matri, conducted under the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at GIMS and led by Dr. Ritu Sharma. The trial was carried out in accordance with institutional protocols, and the final clinical trial report was formally handed over to the startup.

To mark this milestone, a Clinical Trial Completion Certificate was presented to Mr. Roni Mondal, Founder of Matri, by Dr. Rahul Amritraj, CEO – Medical Incubation, CMI GIMS, Brig. Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, and Dr. Gaurav Singh, CEO, Blockchain for Impact.

Leadership Views

Brig. Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, said, PULSEX clearly demonstrates how a government hospital can become a hub for Make-in-India medical devices. When innovation is tested and validated inside hospitals, it ensures safety, relevance and scalability.

Dr. Rahul Amritraj, CEO – Medical Incubation, CMI GIMS, stated, This reflects the India Design approach—where startups are built within clinics, guided by doctors and evaluated on patient outcomes. The strong response from investors confirms that this model is not only relevant but transformative.

With PULSEX, GIMS has set a new benchmark for hospital-led medical incubation in India. The initiative showcased how clinician validation, startup innovation and investor confidence can come together to accelerate the journey of healthcare solutions from concept to real-world impact, positioning GIMS as a leading nucleus for India’s MedTech innovation ecosystem.
