New Delhi, (3/6/2019): Taking charge as Union Law Minister for a second term, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Monday said that his aim was to promote legal education and research as well as provide amenities to lawyers around the country adding that the Ministry will continue working on Prime Minister’s plan of scrapping outdated laws.



Ravi Shankar Prasad said that his aim was to promote legal education and research as well as provide amenities to lawyers around the country.

“The Prime Minister has always wished that we scrap old laws. We will take that on a fast track basis. In this term, we aim at promoting legal education and legal research. I am very happy that National Law School has done commendable work. For the security and medical insurance and working conditions in remote areas of lawyers throughout the nation, we will be exploring options,” he said, speaking to reporters.

When asked about sensitive issues like Article 370 and 35A, he said, “Law ministry is the gateway to resolve sensitive issues. We have always exceeded the current record number of appointment by always going past 100 appointments,”.

Speaking about the now-expired Triple Talaq bills, he said: “We will pass the Triple Talaq bill. It is part of the manifesto.”
