1.        An organization “Stray dog Free Movement” organized an awareness  programme on Stray Dog Menace at Jantra Mantar, New Delhi, from 10.00 a.m.to8.00 p.m. today.

2.       Shri Kochouseph Chittilappilly, Chairman of the organization, along with six other office-bearers, sat on satygraha, observing fast at the venue.

3.       In his address, the chairman, spoke that we are not against dogs as such but the dogs should not be allowed to stray and roam around streets and mohallas.  The dogs should be kept in the shelters.

4.       Several instances were quoted where human beings have been harmed.  Instances of children being killed by stray dogs, were mentioned.  Even the victims who have lost their family members, also participated..

5.       Shri N.P. Singh, President, CARWA, DDRWA AND FONRWA  and Shri A.N. Dhawan, Secretary General, FONRWA,  were also invited to deliver key note address, on the subject.

6.       Both Shri N.P.Singh and Shri A.N. Dhawan, addressed the gathering. They assured fullest support to the noble cause, on behalf of the  residents. They also gave examples of the victims of stray dogs in Noida.

7.       It was mentioned that stray dogs, howsoever, they may become mad or aggressive, they cannot be killed or relocated under the existing law.  They can be only sterilized.  Hence it was emphasized that requisite amendment may be made  in existing law so that a foolproof legal  solution could be put in force.

8.       It was pointed out by Shri N.P.Singh and Shri A.N.Dhawan that , even sterilization programme is not being effectively followed in Noida, where the responsibility has been assigned to SPCA, in absence of municipality in the town
