SEMINAR ON COLLEGIUM OF JUDGES AND ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS IN LLOYD LAW COLLEGE
“Seminar On Collegium Of Judges And Environmental Laws In Lloyd Law College ”
A Seminar on “Collegium of Judges and Environmental laws ” in Lloyd Law College was conducted on 19 Sept 2014, where students and teachers of various colleges actively participated. The chief guest of the Seminar was Former Chief Justice of India Justice Aziz Mushabber Ahmade
Though it was an honor for law students to get a chance to listen to justice Aziz Mushabber Ahmade yet, he with his humility , made the students realize that he was equally honored and elated to be in the midst of law students. He highlighted the following points in his address:
- Law is very fascinating, at the same time it is very demanding too.
- He said “The thrill which you get by practicing law, you will not get elsewhere and the greatest thrill in the practice of law is in the court room”.
- He also highlighted on the importance of how to read law in the court .He emphasized that reading law is an art and a lawyer will be judged by how he reads before the hon’ble court.
- He also discussed on one of the major current issues like appointment of judges in the higher courts. He emphasized that independence of judiciary is sacrosanct and should not be interfered with the Executive.
- While answering to the questions of the students, he was in favour of transparency in the Collegium System.
- Commenting on the question, one of the students raised relating to “Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied”, he said that a proper system should be devised to sort out the problem of backlog in the cases.
- He stressed on the dire need of implementing environmental laws stringently to avoid the tumultuous effects of natural disasters like floods, draughts etc.
- Answering to one of the questions ,he summed up that hard work is the only key to become a successful lawyer.
