Sisodia reviews online teaching in govt schools, says learning must not stop even if schools are shut

New Delhi, January 21: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia with the government’s directorate of education on Thursday reviewed the online teaching-learning process in Delhi government schools as the schools have remained closed frequently due to Covid-19 & online teaching has become the primary mode of teaching.

During his review meeting, Sisodia, who also holds the education profile, was apprised by the Directorate of Education of students’ attendance in offline as well as online classes, besides their access to course materials and worksheets in two modes.

Sisodia emphasized the importance of education along with health saying that the health of students is very important for us but it is also important that the children’s education does not stop.

PTI reported, Sisodia during the meeting told DoE, “Due to the repetitive closures of schools during the pandemic, there has been a loss of education for the students. The health of students is very important for us but it is also important that the children’s education does not stop,”

Manish Sisodia in a tweet also shared that over 95% of the students in various classes were able to access study material while attending online classes.

He tweeted, ”Repeated school closures have been challenging but because of the team’s untiring efforts, more than 95% of our students have stayed connected with their studies through online classes and worksheets.”

As per reports from HT, The directorate of education said worksheets, through offline and online medium, were reaching around 99.2% of students from KG to Class 2; 99.1% from Class 3 to 5, 94.21% to students in Class 6; 97.2% in Class 7; 98% in Class 8; 98.7% in Class 9 and 98.4% in Class 10.

The directorate added that 98.2% of students of Class 11 and 98.6% of Class 12 students were participating in the online classes

Delhi Education Director Himanshu Gupta said that the DoE is sending worksheets to students regularly while online classes are being conducted for classes 9 to 12 at the school level. And, children who do not have digital devices to attend online classes are being provided printed copies of the worksheets every week by the school.
