Software glitch delays October power bills

Electricity bills for the month of October will be delayed because a new software, meant to factor in the 10.3% increase in tariff rate in urban areas, is yet to be put in place.

Bills for October 2014 will be generated by November 10. The power department has requested consumers to utilize the opportunity to clear previous outstanding bills and other irregularities related to their bills during this period. “We have an ongoing process of monthly billing cycle which falls on different dates for different sectors. But since we are in the process of loading a software to include the new tariff rates announced by the UP electricity regulatory authority, the bills for October will get delayed,” said Arvind Rajvedi, superintending engineer, PVVNL.
