New Delhi: Jolted with Congress’ brawl in the Parliament over Assam National Register of Citizenship (NRC), BJP mounted attack on the opposition and alleged Congress for dual standard.
BJP claimed that NRC was the brainchild of former Congress Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and he signed Assam Accord to flash out illegal migrants from Assam but, today Congress opposing NRC and creating hurdle in the Parliament.
‘Yesterday, when BJP Chief Amit Shah started his speech in the house TMC and Congress leaders had disrupted the proceedings which led to the adjourning, the same has happened today,’ said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar while addressing press conference.
As Amit Shah started speaking Congress and TMC leaders raised objection and started creating ruckus. Congress and TMC who are protesting against NRC was agreed earlier our sending illegal migrants, said Javadekar.
‘Congress Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi has initiated the NRC when he was in power and TMC chief Mamta was also agreed on it but when it is turning into reality both parties turning their back over the issue. They should clear their stand,’ Javadekar asserted.
On July 30, First draft of NRC published where names of around 40 lakh people are missing. The issue sparked nationwide controversy.
