The acceptance of a complaint and cognizance of charges against union minister Smriti Irani on her education qualification is a case in point which calls for Bharatiya Janata Party to walk the talk which it has always demanded from the Aam Aadmi Party.

The Delhi court has been clear on its observation that HRD minister Smriti Irani has misrepresented her educational qualifications. The court ruling is sufficient to prove that she has sworn a wrong affidavit and she should resign without delay for the law to follow its natural course.

“The continuance of union minister Smriti Irani in her post would be detrimental in the interest of justice. It is in the interest of the law and justice for Ms Irani to voluntarily give up her position and face the law,” AAP leader Sanjay Singh said in a statement here today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi should act in this case if the minister does not resign, he should follow the same logic by which his party has been seeking the resignation of Delhi minister, he added.

The hearing of the case is posted for August last week and it would be highly impossible for impartial investigation to happen if the minister remains in her post.

Aam Aadmi Party will take up agitation and press for the resignation of the minister if the BJP government does not comply with the demand.
