Traffic Advisory regarding India Africa Forum Summit -2015

India – Africa Forum Summit-2015 will be held in New Delhi from 26th to 29th October, 2015.  Heads of State/Heads of Government from 54 countries will attend this summit.  Due to large scale movement of these dignitaries on 28.10.2015 evening hours and on 29.10.2015 during morning and evening hours, traffic will remain heavy in New Delhi area and adjoining areas.

AREAS AFFECTEDON 28.10.2015

Timings of restriction: From 5.30pm till 10.00 pm

Following roads will remain closed for normal traffic as well as cross traffic during movement of visiting dignitaries:

Sardar Patel Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Subrahmaniam Bharti Marg, Mathura Road and Bhairon Road.

 

Apart from this, in order to avoid congestion in New Delhi area, entry towards New Delhi from Ring Road will be on the following locations:

 

  • On Aurobindo Marg (from AIIMS crossing/flyover) towards Lodhi Road
  • LalaLajpat Rai Marg from Mool Chand Flyover (Ring Road) up to Lodhi Flyover

 

Corridors available for general traffic on 28.10.15

For South to North movement and vice-versa on 28.10.15 evening, the Ring Road from Ashram Chowk – Sarai Kale Khan – IP Estate – Raj Ghat – ISBT Kashmere Gate will remain open for general traffic that can be conveniently used.

From Dhaula Kuan, Ridge Road is continuously available for movement towards Karol Bagh. Similarly Mother Teresa Crescent will remain open. The movement on Sardar Patel Marg will be affected only for a short duration.

For East-West movement, Barapulla Road, Lodhi Road, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent are available. But these roads are likely to witness heavy traffic due to vicinity to the closed roads.

 

 

AREAS AFFECTED ON 29.10.2015

Timings of restriction: From 8.30am to 10.30am and from 4.00pm till 8.00pm

Following roads will remain closed for normal traffic as well as cross traffic during movement of delegates:

Sardar Patel Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Subrahmaniam Bharti Marg, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, RING ROAD (BETWEEN BHAIRON ROAD AND RAJ GHAT), Power House road leading to IG Stadium.

 

North bound traffic on Ring Road will be diverted at Nizamuddin Bridge to cross the bridge, take Pushta Road near Akshardham and re-enter Ring Road either through Geeta Colony bridge or the bridge coming to ISBT Kashmere Gate.

 

Apart from this, like previous day, in order to avoid congestion in New Delhi area, entry towards New Delhi from Ring Road will be closed on the following locations:

 

  • On Aurobindo Marg (from AIIMS crossing/flyover) towards Lodhi Road
  • Lala Lajpat Rai Marg from Mool Chand Flyover (Ring Road) up to Lodhi Flyover

 

 

Corridors available for general traffic on 29.10.15

Since the Ring Road stretch from Bhairon Road upto Rajghat will remain closed in morning and evening hours on 29.10.15, people bound for North on Ring Road will take a right turn on Nizamudding Bridge, cross Yamuna, Turn left on Pushta Road at Akshardham and cross back river Yamuna either from Geeta Colony Bridge (leading to Shanti Van) or the bridge leading to ISBT Kashmere Gate.

From Dhaula Kuan, Ridge Road will continuously available for movement towards Karol Bagh. Similarly Mother Teresa Crescent will remain open. The movement on Sardar Patel Marg will be affected only for a short duration.

Apart from the above, the traffic diversions/restrictions at various prominent crossings/locations on 28.10.15 and 29.10.15 (as per the timings mentioned above) are explained below:

 

  • Sardar Patel Margwill be closed for traffic from Ring Roadfor a short duration. People may use Ridge Road instead of Sardar Patel Marg for going towards New Delhi.

 

  • Shanti Path will remain open for traffic from Moti Bagh Chowk.

 

  • Africa Avenue will remain open for traffic from Ring Road. The motorists may take Vinay Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Kamal Ata Turk Marg, Safadar Jung Road, Aurobindo Chowk, Aurobindo Marg & Lodhi Road for going east/west.

 

  • Aurobindo Marg from AIIMS Flyover towards New Delhi will remain closedfor traffic. The motorists may take either Ring Road or Bhisham Pitamah Marg up to Lodhi Road to proceed further west via Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ata Turk Marg or towards east via Neela Gumbad, Mathura Road & Barapulla etc.
  • Andrews Gunj Chowk: Bhishampitamah Marg from Ring Road up to Lodhi Road will remain open for traffic. The motorist may use Lodhi Road to proceed towards their destination. This road is however likely to remain congested.

 

  • Mool Chand Flyover: LalaLajpat Rai Marg from Mool Chand Flyover (Ring Road) up to Lodhi Flyover will remain closedfor traffic during the movement. The motorists may take Bishampitamah Marg from Andrews Gunj Chowkor Mathura Road from Ashram Chowk to Neela Gumbad or Ring Road, NH-24 for further journey.

 

  • Neela Gumbad: The traffic on Mathura Road from Neela Gumbad towards New Delhi will not be allowed during the movement. The motorists intending to go towards India Gate, Connaught Place etc. will have to take left turn towards Lodhi Road from where they can go through Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ata Turk Marg, Kautilya Marg, Sardar Patel Marg, 11 Murti, & R.M.L and proceed further.

 

  • Ashram Chowk: Mathura Road from Ashram Chowk to Neela Gumbad will remain open for traffic. From Neela Gumbad, the motorist may take left turn towards Lodhi Road for further journey to New Delhi area via Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ata Turk Marg, Kautilya Marg, Sardar Patel Marg, 11 Murti, & R.M.L and proceed further.

 

  • Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg, IP Marg & Vikas Marg will remain open for traffic to come to India Gate, Connaught Place from East Delhi and vice versa.

 

  • Delhi Gate Chowk: Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg from Delhi Gate towards Rajghat will remain closed for trafficand similarly no traffic shall be allowed towards Rajghat from Shantivan Chowk and Geeta Colony Flyover during the movement. The motorists coming from East towards North may take Geeta Colony Flyover, Shantivan Chowk, Nishad Raj Marg, Subhash Marg towards Delhi Gate or Ring Road towards I.S.B.T.

 

  • ISBT to Ashram Chowk: The motorists intending to go towards Ashram from ISBT side may take Geeta Colony Flyover, Pushta Road, NH-24 (Nizamuddin bridge) and Ring Road towards Ashram.

 

  • No traffic shall be allowed during the movement fromLodhi road towards New Delhi via Amrita Shergil Marg, Max Muller Marg, Maharishi Raman Marg and Arch Bishop Makrious Marg, from Aurbindo Chowk towards India Gate via Prithvi Raj Road, from Kamal Ata Turk Marg via Safadar Jung Road towards Akbar Road (R/A GKPO), from PS Tuglak Road towards R/A Akbar Road-Tuglak Road and Hotel Claridges, from Neela Gumbad  towards Zakir Hussain Marg, from Lodhi Flyover towards Pragati Maidan, from Teen Murti towards Akbar Road, from W-Point towards Mathura Road, from Nizamuddin (NH-24) towards IP flyover on Ring Road, from C-Haxagon – India Gate towards Zakir Hussain Marg, Sher Shah Road, Pandara Road and Shahjahan Road, from R/A Hotel Taj Man Singh towards Hotel Claridges, R/A Moti Lal Nehru Place towards R/A Akbar Road-Tuglak Road, from R/A Rajaji Marg towards R/A Gymkhana Post office, from R/A Krishna Menon Marg towards R/A Akbar Road-Tuglak Road.

 

  • The motorists may take C-Hexagan, Akbar Road, Maulana Azad Road to reach North or South Block from India Gate. Or C-Hexagon, Ashoka Road, K.G.Marg to reach Gole Dakkhana and Connaught Place etc.

 

 

How to Approach/Reach Important places:-

 

  • New Delhi Railway Station:
    • From East – the motorists may take Geeta Colony Flyover, Shanti Van Chowk, Nishad Raj Marg, Subhash Marg, Delhi Gate and Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg to reach Ajmeri Gate side of New Delhi Railway Station.
    • From South & South East – the motorists may take Ring Road up to Dhaula Kuan, Ridge Road, R/A Hanuman Murti, Punchkuinya Road, Outer CC Connaught Place and Chelmsford Road.

 

  • Old Delhi Railway Station:
  • From East – Geeta Colony Flyover, Ring Road Bypass, under Hanuman Setu and SPM Marg.
  • From South & South East – Ring Road up to Dhaula Kuan, Ridge Road, R/A Hanuman Murti, Faiz Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Barf Khana, Boulevard Road, Mori Gate and SPM Marg

Or

Ring Road upto Sarai Kale Khan, NH-24, Akshardham Mandir, Pushta Road, Geeta Colony Flyover, Ring Road Bypass, under Hanuman Setu and SPM Marg.

 

  • Airport:
    • From East – NH-24, Ring Road towards Ashram Chowk upto Dhaula Kuan and Gurgaon Road

Or

Geeta Colony Flyover, Ring Road Bypass towards Hanuman Mandir Yamuna Bazar, Ring Road upto ISBT, Boulevard Road, Barf Khana, Rani Jhansi Road, Faiz Road, Ridge Road, Dhaula Kuan and Gurgaon Road

 

 

Because of diversions in traffic, congestion is likely to take place on these roads. Motoristsare requested to keep patience, observe traffic & road discipline and follow directions of TrafficPolice personnel deployed at all intersections. People are requested to plan their journey with sufficient time in hand toavoid inconvenience. Use of public transport like Delhi Metro is recommended for faster movement and to avoid congestion.
