Traffic cops to ask MHA for 3,000 men

With nearly half the number of accidental deaths occurring at night being due to speeding and drunk driving, traffic police have pleaded helplessness as to preventing them since the traffic cops go off duty after midnight. Senior traffic officials have planned to ask the home ministry for 3,000 more personnel to keep the strength at par with the rise in number of vehicles in the city. Last time the force was augmented was during the Commonwealth Games.
