Tragedy Strikes Noida Housing Complex: Elderly Woman Succumbs to Lift Accident

New Delhi, August 4, 2023: A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Thursday at a high-rise society in Noida’s Paras Tierra Society, Sector 137, as a 73-year-old woman tragically lost her life due to a possible cardiac arrest caused by a lift accident.
According to police officials, the lift cable snapped, leading to a sudden free fall between floors, while the woman was alone in the elevator.
The lift’s wire failure resulted in the elevator being suspended between some of the middle floors, sparing it from a direct impact with the ground. However, the elderly woman’s condition deteriorated rapidly following the incident, and she was promptly rushed to Felix Hospital for immediate medical attention. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, she couldn’t be revived and passed away during treatment.
A doctor at Felix Hospital shared, “The woman sustained injuries on the back of her head and some abrasions on her elbows, likely from the fall of the lift. Upon arrival, she showed no pulse, and her dilated eyelids pointed towards a possible cardiac arrest, likely triggered by the suddenness of the event.”
The unfortunate incident has left the residents of Paras Tierra in shock and dismay. In response, hundreds of residents congregated in the complex to protest the incident and voice concerns about the maintenance of essential services, particularly the management of lifts.
The tragedy has sparked apprehension about safety measures and the regular upkeep of elevators in high-rise buildings, prompting authorities to review and strengthen safety protocols to prevent such heartrending accidents in the future.
As the community mourns the loss of a valued member, there is a collective call for comprehensive safety audits and stringent monitoring of lift systems to ensure the well-being and security of all residents.
