New Delhi, 31 May 2022: Medical treatment is not only about advanced technology but good doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, GDA, housekeeping and many others who give their heart and soul to the patient, believes Dr Pallavi Sharma, Director of Kailash Hospital and Neuro Institute and such personalized care is what reflects in the overall functioning of the institute that she heads.

In an exclusive conversation with Ten News, Dr Pallavi, who is also a successful Ophthalmologist shares the salient features of her organisation and what makes it different from other medical facilities. “Kailash believes in building trust and for the last 36 years, the faith and trust we have built among the people that a doctor, a billing person, or a manager in Kailash will never cheat you or do anything wrong consciously, that is where our core strength is and that is what attaches people to you,” she says.

Outlining how the Kailash Hospital brought latest technology and advance medical care to the region, she adds, “Whenever a new medical setup is established, the machines that are purchased is always from the new generation. So, when this hospital was planned, all the machines and equipments were from the advanced category whether it is MR, CT machines,” she says, adding, “Earlier MRI machines would make a lot of noise, but now we have a silent MRI, we also have machines for Neurovascular cases. For Endovascular procedures we also have advanced endoscopic equipment’s as well.”

When asked about financial provisions for the people who cannot afford expensive treatment, she shares that most people are insured nowadays so there is a lesser burden. “For the rest, we have schemes. Schemes like people who live around 10 kilometers around Kailash Hospital, or the Neuro Institute can avail free services like sending free ambulances, providing Home Care Services, etc. Apart from that, there are many NGOs. These NGOs get in touch with us when it comes to helping the poor and the needy.”

Dr Pallavi Sharma also talked about the medical facilities or specializations that are in demand and said, “Due to a lifestyle change, there is a changing pattern of diseases. Earlier cardiovascular blockages would happen only to people above 60 years of age. However, now 20-year-olds and 30-year-olds are vulnerable to cardiovascular diseases. Apart from that, respiratory illnesses have also risen due to pollution, and the AQI level is increasing day by day. Due to lifestyle changes, infertility is increasing, and most women suffer from PCOD, and obesity, resulting in difficulty in conceiving. Even if people conceive through IVF there are complications. These are the bunch of specializations that are increasing nowadays. Brain stroke is also increasing, because of stress. More than physically, people these days are mentally ill, so when it comes to health both physical and mental health is important. Nowadays, even a 19-year-old takes treatment for depression. So, the demand for psychiatric and counseling is also increasing.”
