While welcoming the allocation for waste management, which includes reduction in single use plastic, garbage segregation, waste water treatment, construction waste management and bioremediation of all dumping sites to the tune of ₹141678 cr over 5 years from 2020-26, we are more concerned about ensuring end utilisation. Clean Air allocation for 42 urban areas is Rs 2217 Cr which appears to be on a lower side considering the severe air Pollution level. Delhi needs more concerted efforts.

As per budget, Commercial vehicles need to be voluntarily scrapped after 15 years while for personal vehicles, it’s 20 years. However, petrol availability need to be linked to pollution compliance norms. FM has proposed additional ₹1000 cr for solar energy systems and 1500 cr for non conventional energy. We need to wait for details of the scheme.
