UP govt sets a new record by procuring 1 lakh MT wheat in 12 days

During 1st to 12th April, the official wheat procurement agencies in the state of Uttar Pradesh purchased one lakh metric tons of wheat from 17,440 farmers in record time of 12 days. The wheat was procured from 6,000 procurement centres across the state at minimum support price.

The UP govt has increased the MSP of wheat from Rs 1,925 in 2020-21 to Rs 1,975 per quintal in 2021-22. Besides, the govt also increased the number of procurement centres from 5,000 last year to 6,000 in 2021.

For the first time in the country, the Yogi Adityanath government decided to involve Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the procurement of wheat. As many as 150 FPOs have been roped in the state to start with.

The Yogi government has also made a record of highest ever payment to the paddy and wheat farmers of the state in four years. Payment of Rs 29,017.45 crore has been released to more than 33 lakh wheat farmers during last 4 years.
