New Delhi, 27th July 2023: During his visit to India, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry met with Indian officials to explore and discuss climate cooperation.

The discussions are centred on advancing common climate and clean energy goals, such as encouraging renewable energy investment, promoting zero-emission bus deployment, and diversifying clean energy supply chains.

Following his visit to Delhi, Kerry will depart for Chennai to attend the G20 Ministers Meeting on Environment and Climate Sustainability.
According to sources, the meeting would focus on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and financing.

The current G20 Presidency, India, has placed a strong emphasis on climate change. Jitendra Singh, the science minister, has urged for G20 nations to use renewable energy more effectively and strive towards net-zero emission goals.

Singh emphasised the importance of technology and innovation in the move to cleaner energy, citing projects like smart grids, energy-efficient buildings, and sustainable transportation systems. The minister also emphasised the relevance of circular economy concepts and innovation in environmental sustainability as critical methods for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

In order to move towards a more sustainable future, it is critical to reduce waste and maximise resource efficiency, as well as implement Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) activities, according to Singh in an official statement.
