US defence chief quits a day after Trump’s Syria withdrawal order
US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis on Thursday resigned, a day after President Donald Trump decided to pull all US troops out of Syria saying ISIS has been defeated there. “You have a right to a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects,” Mattis said in a letter to Trump.
