Delhi, Sept 15th, 2022: US President Joe Biden has appointed 130 Indian American officials to key positions so far in his administration, according to a senior official of the White House.
Representing the Biden administration at an event to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava’ at the US Capitol, Raj Panjabi, who is currently serving as Senior Director for Global Health Security and Biodefence on the White House National Security Council, read out a list of top Indian Americans in the US Government.
Panjabi said that US President Biden has appointed 130 Indian Americans in his administration.
Addressing the gathering, he outlined that this is a proud and monumental moment for Indians across the world.
Panjabi further said that the people of America joined in the celebrations of India’s Independence Day on 15th August with nearly four million Indian-Americans living in the States.
He also said that Biden respects the culture, dignity, and traditions of India and that USA and India are indispensable partners.
According to the list prepared by Indiaspora, more than 40 Indian-Americans have been elected to various offices across the country. Four are in the House of Representatives — Dr. Ami Bera, Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Pramila Jayapal. This includes four Mayors as well.
