It seems that in the near future Greater Noida city of Uttar Pradesh will be the center of focus for sporting events. Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex is in the lime light nowadays, as a lot is happening.
In the near past, M.S. Dhoni, Captain, team India and Yuvraj Singh, renowned Indian Cricketer was at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex for an ad shoot. They were surprised to see such a state-of-the-art cricketing infrastructure. They also mentioned that they would like international match to be hosted at this ground in the near future.
From Feb 25th to Feb 28th, 2016 Royal Cricket Champions League was hosted at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. The series was telecast live on Neo Prime from 12pm to 6pm. The series was T-20 League in which 4 teams rubbed shoulders for the Trophy. Kerala Blasters emerge as the champion of the tournament.
As Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex is the home ground for Afghanistan Cricket Board and is in process of getting ICC approval for hosting the international matches. Recently, in the ICC World T-20 Afghanistan beat West Indies in a nail biting match. It’s needless to say that the teams five day Camp at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex from Feb 25th, to 29th, 2016 played an important role in their impressive performance during the entire World T-20 and an impressive win over West Indies. According to Coach Inzmam ul Haq “The facilities are excellent, the ground and practice nets are of International standards.” He also mentioned that “Greater Noida is a very well beautiful city and has excellent sporting atmosphere. The team had good time and enjoyed practicing at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex.”
On Feb 25th, 2016, Mr. Pullela Gopichand, Coach, Indian Badminton team was in the city. Former ace shutter was in the city to explore the possibilities of setting up Badminton excellence center. He was very impressed with the infrastructure at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. He mentioned that this part of the country has tremendous potential of producing world class players. He thanked the government and the authority officials for creating such a state-of-the-art sporting infrastructure.
Ishan Kishan, Captain, India U-19 team along with his coach Uttam Mazumdar was in the city from March 19th to 22nd, 2016 during his visit he practiced at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. He said that the atmosphere and the ambiance here is wonderful for playing and practicing. The practice wickets and the ground facilities are in top condition. He also said that he is looking forward to play here in the near future.
On March 24th, 2016, when the entire country was enjoying the festival of colours ‘Holi’, the people of city had an opportunity to enjoy the game of cricket again as the final of Emerging Cricket Cup. The final day matches were telecast live on Neo Prime from 4:30pm to 11pm. In the final match Haryana Royals beat MP Warriors by 11 runs.
Today, Durhum County Cricket Club, Women Team is playing a 40 overs practice match against Indian Railway Women Team at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. The ground and the facilities have been appreciated by all the players and their coach. Paul, coach of the Dhurum team said that he will look forward to have the winter camp of their team at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex.
On April 6th & 7th, 2016 Afghanistan National Cricket team will be playing a 2-day match against UP Ranji team. From April 10th to 13th, Afghanistan National team will be playing against Namibia National Team for the I-Cup at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida.
